Pokémon Showdown is a competitive battle simulator where the strategy starts before the first turn. Team composition, roles, speed tiers, coverage, and reliable answers to common threats all matter. Because the simulator removes the collection grind, each match focuses on prediction, resource management, and choosing when to attack, switch, set up, or preserve a key Pokémon.

A good battle plan has a simple win condition and a way to reach it. Identify which opposing Pokémon blocks your route, keep the teammate that removes it healthy, and do not reveal every option on the first turn. Reviewing a loss is especially useful when you separate a bad prediction from a team-building problem; the fix for each is different.
