A Y8 alternative for people who want less scrolling
Glaze Games vs Y8 · facts checked 2026-10-11
Y8 has been online since 2006 and says on its own About page that it hosts over 100,000 games, more than 2,000 of them exclusive. It also offers the Y8 Browser, a desktop app for keeping Flash-era games playable. There are very few places that can match that history and scale, and if you are hunting for an old Flash favourite, Y8 may be the only realistic option.
The flip side of size is the sorting problem: when a catalog is that large and that old, finding the good, still-working, recently-maintained game takes effort. Glaze Games is far smaller but curated and reviewed, and focuses on modern HTML5 games that work on phones, Chromebooks and Macs without plug-ins. The choice depends on whether you are searching for something specific or want a good game fast.
Who should pick which. Use Y8 for the long tail and for classic Flash-era titles; use Glaze when you want browsable shelves, written controls and tips, and apps. Many people sensibly use both.

What Y8 does better
Sheer scale and history
More than 100,000 games by its own count, with an archive going back to 2006. If you remember a specific old game, it may be there and nowhere else.
Flash-era support
The Y8 Browser exists to keep Flash games playable. We carry only modern HTML5 games, so we cannot help with Flash.
Languages and community
It serves players in over 30 languages with a long-established community. Our localization is newer.

Questions, answered
Does Glaze have Flash games like Y8?
No. Flash was retired from browsers, and Glaze carries only modern HTML5 games that need no plug-in. If you are looking for a specific Flash-era game, Y8 and its Y8 Browser are a better bet.
Is Glaze Games affiliated with Y8?
No. We are independent and mention Y8 only because it is what you searched for.
Is the Y8 catalog really over 100,000 games?
That is the figure Y8 gives on its own About page. We have not audited it, and counts of this kind often include old, duplicated or no-longer-working entries.
Do I need an account for either?
No. Both let you play without registering, and both offer optional accounts.
