How to play Klondike Solitaire
Move cards between seven columns, alternating red and black in descending order, to build four suit foundations from Ace to King.
- 1Press Play to deal a new game. Seven columns are laid out, with only the top card of each face up.
- 2Drag a card or a face-up run onto a column whose top card is one rank higher and the opposite color.
- 3Move Aces to the foundation piles at the top as soon as they appear, then build each suit upward to the King.
- 4Click the stock pile when you are out of moves to turn over new cards, and play them from the waste pile.
- 5Fill an empty column with a King or a run starting with a King. The game is won when all four foundations are complete.
Tips and strategy
- Uncover face-down cards before anything else. A hidden card is worth more than a tidy foundation.
- Do not rush cards to the foundation. A low card left in play can be the link you need to move a longer run.
- Choose which color King to place in an empty column based on which color Queen is available to go on it.
- Look through the whole stock once before committing to moves so you know which cards are coming.
- Cycle the stock again if you are stuck. Moving even one card changes which stock cards become playable.
