Laser Survivor

Laser Survivor is a roguelike survival game set in a neon post-apocalypse. A dimensional rift has let demons flood into the world, and five heroes are all that stand between them and the end of humanity. Each run drops you into a map at a random spawn point, and you survive wave after wave while collecting weapons and passive abilities. There are 10 active weapons and 10 passives, so your build changes from run to run. Five maps, the Lab, Forest, Crypt, Factory, and Dungeon, each have their own hordes. Each hero changes the approach. Blaze fires homing bullets, Neon projects a damaging shield, Hunter lays explosive traps, Slash cuts through hordes in horizontal lines, and Jaxx deals heavy area damage that scales up.

It works well as a browser game because a run is a self-contained session and the permanent progress, 8 missions and 11 upgrades, carries over between attempts. The controls are simple: movement only, with the arrow keys, WASD, or mouse on desktop and touch on mobile. The flexible layout fits both phones and desktops. Pixel art visuals and a chiptune soundtrack give it a retro look and sound, and collectibles fill in the story of the rift. The randomized spawn points and loadouts keep runs from feeling identical, which is what makes roguelikes worth replaying.
