Ashen Ninja: Rust and Katana is a 3D hack-and-slash action game. You play Black Ninja, the last surviving member of the Order of Light, who wakes from cryogenic sleep long after a catastrophe called the Great Fall has buried civilization under sand. Armed with a katana, you set out to protect survivors and learn who caused the collapse. A level plays as a run through abandoned cities and ruins of old technology, cutting through groups of enemies and facing bosses. As you progress you unlock new abilities, and the story is kept straightforward so the focus stays on combat. Fights mix hordes of foes with formidable bosses, so the rhythm swings between sweeping through groups and carefully studying a single opponent.
