Platform Kid

Platform Kid is an indie 2D platformer inspired by classic arcade platform games. The hero is a farmboy from Hophop Land whose quiet life ends when the villain Dr. Science and his Butcher Bandits kidnap Platform Girl and all the farm animals, leaving behind a taunting note. Each level is a side-scrolling stage in which you must collect five hidden keys to unlock the exit. Your moves are deliberately simple: walk, run, jump and double-jump. The challenge comes from level design that hides keys along secret routes and off-screen spots, with boss fights placed between the regular stages. Finding the fifth key in a stage is often the hardest part, and it usually means leaving the obvious path to try a risky jump or look off the edge of the screen.

The game works nicely in a browser because the controls are a handful of keys and each level is a contained goal. You can clear a stage in a short sitting, or take your time hunting down every key. Arrow keys move, Z jumps and confirms in menus, X runs and Esc opens the menu. It is tagged for controllers as well, and it is built for a landscape screen, so a desktop or laptop is the natural fit. The bright visuals and upbeat tone keep it welcoming for any age. Tight controls matter in a game like this, and the small move set means every missed jump comes down to your own timing.

Platform Kid suits players who love exploration-driven platformers, where searching a level matters as much as clearing it, and newcomers who want an approachable first platforming game. It belongs with retro-inspired side-scrollers and collectathon platformers. It is the kind of game where a second visit to a level feels worthwhile, because you know the layout well enough to hunt for what you missed.
